Wolfsburg. It has been 15 years since the first store doors of the Designer Outlets in Wolfsburg opened, and shopping fans could stroll from store to store in An der Vorburg for the first time. The center is now celebrating its 15th birthday from 15 to 17 December and invites you to numerous activities and program items.

“We are happy that our outlet has existed for so many years and that we have been part of the center of Wolfsburg for 15 years. Over the years, our outlet has grown steadily and therefore we can still offer our visitors a wide selection – and not only in fashion, because we want to enable an all-round experience. With its diverse range, the outlet must offer an entertaining break from everyday life,’ says Michel Ernst, head of the centre.
New stores in Designer Outlets Wolfsburg
There are around 90 shops in total in the buildings for the designer shops on the Mittelland Canal. Two years ago, among other things, a Storck outlet moved in, Ravensburger has offered games and puzzles since 2021 and this year the fashion chain “S.Oliver” opened an outlet. To the delight of many visitors, the gastronomy has also been expanded. L’Osteria opened last summer and since then guests have been able to enjoy delicious pizza and pasta. Visitors can also stop by the Five Guys burger joint.

The ellipses are currently almost fully let. And Ernst must not reveal which new stores are moving in. According to the center manager, visitor numbers have developed positively over the past 15 years – until the pandemic in 2019. “Although the times are marked by pandemic, war and inflation, we have slowly recovered. So things are developing positively again,” says Ernst. Designer Outlets Wolfsburg is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Events and concerts in the centre
The stores take part in Sunday shopping at Wolfsburg’s city center retailers and offer special events. For example, the “Music & Fashion Festival” has been taking place for almost ten years, with local and national bands taking center stage. Various food trucks were guests on the first weekend in August. The “Mode & Food” event series has been on offer for more than ten years.

“There are many events and special moments to look back on. And if you ask the employees and the visitors, everyone will definitely have another highlight,” says Ernst. From his point of view, a highlight was the concert by Giovanni Zarrella (2019). A special moment is also when celebrities are guests. German basketball player Dennis Schröder, who plays for the “Los Angeles Lakers”, shopped in stores in 2020.
Goodie bags for visitors
On the occasion of the birthday weekend, so-called goodie bags will be distributed on Thursday 15 December. Customers who celebrate their birthday on this day will also get a surprise. There is a gift for the youngest guests on Friday, December 16: The popular characters from Sesame Street, Ernie and Bert, are coming to visit. Santa will stop by on Saturday 17 December and hand out small gifts.

And the musical accompaniment has also been taken care of again. The band “Temple of the Bloom” will entertain the visitors with live music both Friday and Saturday. “This will be a very special anniversary weekend for us. We are looking forward to everyone celebrating with us,” says CEO Hans Dobke.
