The Foreign Secretary visits her colleague in Dublin, but she cannot fly to London because of ice and snow. Her journey is about Europe’s relationship with Great Britain, which has become even more complicated after Brexit – and the hope for an early recovery.

Shortly after 4 p.m., Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s Luftwaffe Airbus is finally on the runway at Dublin Airport. At the time, she was said to have appeared for the press at Lancaster House in London with her British colleague James Cleverly. But snow fell in Ireland on Friday night, the first massive winter start since 2018. The runway is covered in a layer of ice, the wings are covered in snow. The machine sits on the apron for four and a half hours until a vehicle is ready for de-icing and it can take off for London. The state-owned airline is no better off than many commercial flights.
