Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur presents the new 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar Rallye Design and thus revives the myth of what is probably the most famous rally in racing history. Porsche Design is launching the new Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar and Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition exclusively for buyers of these extraordinary sports cars. The handmade watches continue the iconic design highlights of their motorized model and inspire with a revolutionary world first: an extremely scratch-resistant titanium carbide case.


Innovation from tradition: the first chronograph case made of titanium carbide.

40 years after Porsche Design was the first watch manufacturer to have a chronograph made of titanium, the in-house factory in Solothurn, Switzerland, has succeeded in forming a chronograph case from the durable and highly scratch-resistant material titanium carbide. The intensive five-year development work followed the innovative spirit of the company’s founder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who once said: “It gives me pleasure to make things better.” The smallest scratches, for example from fine sand, are a thing of the past. So the wearer is well prepared if the 911 Dakar gets stuck in the desert sand. In addition, titanium carbide is not subject to any visible aging process, is anti-allergenic and even lighter than titanium. The ceramic material can be recognized by the striking black powder look and the elegant crystal structure. The new abbreviation “TiC” (titanium carbide) for the innovative material adorns the dial in striking red.

White, blue, gold, red – the colors of a motorsport legend

Every time you look at your wrist, the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar offers optimal legibility. The red 60 on the minute scale on the rehaut draws attention as quickly as the red stop hands. In addition, the markings on the small hour display are drawn wider than the half-hour lines for full hours. The black dial provides a sporty contrast to the red lettering on the Porsche Design WERK 01.240 with flyback function. Above the date display at 3 o’clock, the chronograph illustrates its numerous similarities to the limited Porsche special model with the lettering “911 Dakar”. The chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design with an additional Roughroads graphic in the colors white, blue, gold and red in the small second evokes memories of a historic motorsport success: In 1984, Porsche won the car classification of the desert races with the modified 953 in these colors Paris -Dakar Rally.

Anything but a mirage

The twisted rotor of the watch corresponds to the rim of the Porsche 911 Dakar down to the smallest detail. Analogous to the vehicle configuration, black satin gloss and white uni colors are available for the rim design of the two watches. For the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar, the winding rotor is also available in Vesuvius grey. If the choice falls on black satin finish or Vesuvius grey, the rim is in brilliant silver. The modern Porsche emblem adorns the central cap in the chosen rim colour. Framed in the titanium base, the rotor and the Porsche Design WERK 01.240 are protected from the next sandstorm by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with sevenfold anti-reflective coating.
Pushers and crown are also made of titanium. The engraved limited number on the back of the case emphasizes the close connection to the also limited Porsche 911 Dakar with the same number.

COSC-certified caliber with flyback function

The COSC-certified Porsche Design WERK 01.240 has a flyback function that combines start, stop and reset in one operation. This makes the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar the perfect companion for the next big adventure, where every second counts. The quick-change system in the high-quality bracelets also works in this spirit. This makes it possible to replace the leather straps without the use of tools. The strap made of black leather, including contrast stitching in shades and a perforation with a backing made of Race-Tex in shades, is derived from the center panel of the seat on the Porsche 911 Dakar. The leather strap for the chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition is also immediately inspired by the center section of the seat with black leather and contrast stitching in speed blue, as well as perforation with a backing made of Race-Tex in shark blue.

The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar and the Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition can be ordered from November 17 at a price from 13,950 euros (RRP) in Porsche Centers, exclusively by buyers of the new Porsche 911 Dakar and 911 Dakar Rallye Design .
