Commencal Supreme DH XS: Hardly any other company is as involved in downhill racing as Commencal. So it’s no wonder that the mail order company now also has a genuine downhill bike for kids on offer. The Supreme DH XS looks confusingly similar to the World Cup bike, but according to Commencal it has a custom geometry, kinematics and tubeset for growing racers.
Commencal Supreme DH XS: info and prices
The need for capable children’s mountain bikes is constantly growing – meanwhile, the offspring can often be found on the trails from kindergarten age. So it’s no wonder that downhill racing is also becoming a problem more and faster – Commencal now wants a solution to this. The Commencal Supreme DH XS has all the features of the adult car, but relies on 27.5″ wheels, a shorter geometry, a lighter tube set and adapted kinematics. The children’s downhill bike will be available from November 2022 and costs €5,500, which is not exactly cheap.

- trip 200 mm (front) / 200 mm (rear)
- rear end Single pivot (high pivot with pulley)
- wheel size 27.5″
- special circumstances especially small frame for children, uncompromising DH bike, lighter tube set, pivot point adapted to children
- weight 4.6 kg (frame) | 17.7 kg (complete wheel, all manufacturer information)
- Colors silver/grey
- frame sizes XS
- Available November 2022
- Price (RRP) €5,500
Like the Commencal Supreme DH (test) for adults, which is popular in the World Cup, the children’s version also relies on a single-pivot rear triangle with a particularly high pivot point and chain deflection. The system ensures that the rear wheel has a rear lift curve and extremely little pedal backlash. So you should be well prepared for the fast ride in rough terrain. A changed position of the main pin should ensure that light children can better push and play with the terrain. In addition, according to Commencal, the tube set has been adapted and should be lighter and increase comfort and dynamics.
The Supreme DH XS is my first real downhill bike! Everything goes faster, much faster. With this bike, even the toughest routes become a relaxed, fun affair. It’s a new way of driving for me!

The Commencal kids downhill bike is only available in size XS and offers a compact reach of 405mm combined with a 615mm stack. It is primarily aimed at teenagers. Commencal itself doesn’t give a height recommendation, but we’d estimate around 1.53-1.65m. The chainstay is 425cm short (but lengthens with compression), the head angle is an aggressive 63° slack and the bottom bracket is 5mm lower.

There is only one version of the Commencal Supreme DH XS, which at €5,500 isn’t exactly easy on parents’ wallets. The RockShox Boxxer Ultimate (test) is also an absolute top fork, and a slightly cheaper SuperDeluxe Select damper handles the high-revving rear end. Shifting is done with the solid SRAM GX DH groupset, while smart TRP DH-R Evo brakes ensure you come to a safe stop. The cockpit and seat post are from Commencal’s own brand, Ride Alpha, and the wheels are a mix of Spank rims and cheap Formula hubs. At 17.7 kg, the youth downhill bike is quite heavy, even for an adult bike.
