Anniversary. It is a quarter of a century ago: The idea of founding a small circus school with 30 children became one of the largest youth circus centers in Europe with 500 active children, young people and adults, over 1,500 members and its own circus venue with a large training hall and permanent circus tent.
For those responsible for Paletti, this is of course cause for celebration: during the long weekend from September 30 to October 3, numerous workshops, hands-on activities and shows will take place throughout the circus grounds. “We would like to celebrate a huge circus festival with our small and large circus fans, families and all interested people from Mannheim and the region and say a big “thank you” for the years of loyalty and support, especially during the pandemic,” invites Paletti- Founder and circus director Tilo Bender.
It starts on Friday at 20:00 with the big anniversary gala in the circus tent. A high-quality show program with numbers by the most experienced Paletti artists and some special acts awaits the audience. If you want, you can end the evening in the evocative circus atmosphere by the fire pit with a cool drink.
Saturday’s theme is “Children’s Culture Day”. Eight different workshops for children and families are on the program here between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.: magic for children, percussion with kitchen utensils, beatboxing (creating rhythm with the mouth) or parkour takes place under professional guidance at the circus square. Together with their offspring, parents can join in the parent-child dance, family acroyoga or the family clown workshop. The workshops last two hours each.
Throughout the day, there is a children’s art activity under the guidance of a visual artist: driftwood from the Rhine and Neckar is decorated with colorful acrylic paint and permanently attached to the fence of the circus area as a unified work of art.
On Saturday evening at 18.30 there is the next highlight in the tent: The beatbox group “Razzzones” – known from “The Voice of Germany” presents their “mouth-made beatbox musical” for the whole family entitled “The Razzzelbande auf Aiuk Aiukuck “. The four beatbox artists from Razzzelbande takes viewers young and old on an interactive journey to distant galaxies to sing, dance and laugh along.
On Sunday there is a big hands-on circus day. Children from the age of 4 can get a taste of circus air under the expert guidance of the Paletti trainers and swing on a trapeze, run over a wire rope, spin juggling plates or balance on a large ball. The practical circus takes place between 10.00 and 15.00 and lasts one hour per session. block.
From around 18.00 the children’s disco takes place in the circus tent. While the little ones dance to colorful lights and cool hits in the tent or drink a children’s cocktail, the parents can settle in the awning. There is free access to the children’s disco.
The anniversary events are rounded off with the family circus brunch on Monday – here guests big and small can help themselves to a rich buffet and in between admire the Paletti artists in the ring or under the circus dome. The circus brunch is unfortunately already sold out.
In the anniversary year, the association is collecting donations to fulfill a long-standing wish: A “Schnitzel pit” – which is already underground – is to be built in the circus hall. “The pit is filled with large pieces of foam and allows young and old performers to practice somersaults and flips without fear,” says circus director Bender. 25,000 euros will be raised for this big “birthday gift” to coincide with the anniversary.
A donation can either be made by purchasing an anniversary ticket or in another way online or by bank transfer. Further information can be found on the Paletti donation page: www.zirkus-paletti.de/foerdern/spender/.
Further information and tickets for the various events are available on the Paletti website at www.zirkus-paletti.de/termine/jubel2022/.
