Nettal, 28 September 2022 – The renowned British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins launches their new flagship Px8 wireless headphones. The new model sets new standards in relation to sound, construction and craftsmanship in the category of wireless headphones with active noise reduction.
The heart of the Px8 is the acoustic platform that the Px7 S2 is also equipped with. The latter is already considered one of the best-sounding headphones in its class. Its excellent performance in terms of detail, resolution and spatiality is now further enhanced thanks to the Px8’s new bespoke 40mm carbon fiber cone drivers.
Inspired by carbon dome tweeters in the highly successful Bowers & Wilkins 700 speaker series, the Px8’s new carbon fiber cones offer a unique combination of extremely fast response and particularly low distortion throughout the frequency range. As a result, the Px8 even surpasses the high bar set by the Px7 S2 in terms of resolution, detail and timing. His musical performance is more immersive and natural, coming even closer to real sound as the artist intended.
The Px8’s drivers with carbon fiber cones are positioned at an angle in the ear cups to ensure the same distance from the user’s ear at all points, creating a particularly spacious and precise sound image. The result is the best sound quality Bowers & Wilkins has ever achieved from a wireless headphone.
A new top product in the headphone range
The Px8’s design is as inspiring as its sound quality. The new headphones are available in black or tan and gray leather. The sophisticated look is characterized by the premium design with aluminum bar construction and the shiny “diamond cut” border around the elliptical emblem. For ultimate comfort, the ear cups, memory foam ear cushions and headband are covered with soft, high-quality nappa leather. With this choice of design and materials, Bowers & Wilkins maintains its position as the premium audio brand in this category.
Unique Hi-Res sound
The Px8 features Qualcomm’s aptX™ Adaptive wireless technology to ensure the best possible sound quality from compatible smartphones, tablets and computers. USB-C and analog 3.5mm wired connections are also supported. Both cables are included in the supplied case.
Wired or wireless, the Px8 combines its high-performance driver configuration with powerful digital signal processing (DSP) developed by Bowers & Wilkins to deliver exceptional Hi-Res (24-bit) sound quality from popular streaming services.
Undisturbed music enjoyment
The Px8 uses noise-cancelling technology that Bowers & Wilkins engineers have painstakingly optimized. It suppresses unwanted background noise without affecting the music quality.
Six high-performance microphones work hand in hand to deliver optimal results: two measure the output power of each driver, two respond to ambient noise and two use enhanced noise reduction to ensure excellent voice quality when making calls.
As with the Px7 S2, the distance between the two external microphones on the Px8 has also been reduced to optimize system performance. The pitch of each microphone was adjusted to improve voice recording. In addition, the location of the second microphone has been changed to reduce wind noise.
Groundbreaking improvement in user comfort
With the launch of the new Px8 comes a major upgrade to the Bowers & Wilkins Music App. Px8 owners can stream their favorite music directly from their mobile device to their headphones. Music services such as Deezer, Qobuz and TIDAL are supported. This feature will also be available to Px7 S2 users from the day the Px8 is launched. An example of the benefits of this ground-breaking feature: Bowers & Wilkins customers listening to music at home via their mobile device – for example with a Zeppelin or two Formation Duo stereo speakers – can easily play the sound on their Px8 or Px7S2 when they leave the house switch .
The app also allows you to pair the Px8 with a mobile device, fine tune the sound with your desired equalizer settings, select your preferred noise reduction mode and keep an eye on the battery level.
Controls on the ear cups provide effortless control even without the music app. Additionally, users can activate their smartphone’s voice assistant with a tap of the Px8. The battery life of up to 30 hours allows you to listen to music all day – and longer – without having to charge the headphones in between. If that’s not enough, a 15-minute quick charge provides another seven hours of listening pleasure. So users never have to be without their favorite music for a long time.
Commenting on the launch, Giles Pocock, Bowers & Wilkins Vice-President of Brand Marketing, said: “I am very proud of our new Px8. It will fundamentally change customer expectations in the premium headphone segment and combines everything we stand for as a brand : exceptional sound in line with our ‘True Sound’ promise, unique design and the highest quality of craftsmanship.”
The Px8 will be available on September 28 from the Bowers & Wilkins website and selected retailers, priced at £699.
