Cooking for children can be so easy – and healthy too

Are you having trouble finding the right food for your children because people often complain and certain foods are despised? From now on, this no longer has to be the case! Making a delicious dish for the offspring need not be difficult or time-consuming. And the best part is that with a few simple tweaks here and there, something healthy can be conjured up in no time at all. We have selected three children’s favorite dishes and show you how you can easily prepare them in a healthy way.

Pizza, chicken nuggets and the like are particularly popular with children

Dishes that are particularly loved by the little ones are often limited to one category: it doesn’t matter if it’s pizza, spaghetti or chicken nuggets – the most important thing is that it tastes good. But making too much and too often of the little ones’ favorite food is not so healthy in the long run. So that children’s eyes continue to shine when the food is put on the table, there are a few tips and tricks on how these dishes are still healthy and also taste good. For example, have you ever made a spelled flour pizza?

For the pizza dough, you can easily use spelled or wholemeal flour as an alternative to conventional white flour. Spelled flour contains more fiber and is therefore healthier than wheat flour. Tomato sauce can be replaced with tomato paste, which saves a lot of the sugar that is often found in ready-made sauces. If your kids don’t like eating raw vegetables, you can cheat at this point and put peppers, mushrooms, spinach, etc. on the pizza and hide them under the cheese. The offspring may not even notice that they are eating a lot of vegetables while eating pizza. If you are still hungry for meat, the pork salami can be replaced with turkey salami. This makes the pizza topping significantly healthier. All in all, the homemade pizza is definitely less greasy than the frozen version.

Chicken nuggets can also be healthy

To make a healthy alternative to ready-made chicken nuggets, you can simply bathe the finely chopped chicken breast in a yogurt sauce enriched with paprika. They are then tossed in cornflakes and put in the oven. Although almost no calories are saved here, the difference is particularly noticeable in the fat content.

Spaghetti Bolognese is very popular with children

Another dish that kids love – and adults, of course – is spaghetti bolognese. With a few simple steps, the good portion of pasta is transformed into a relatively healthy dish. If whole grain spaghetti is used instead of the normal spaghetti, which ensures that we stay full longer, and minced beef is replaced with beef tartare, significantly more fat can be saved. This means: even your favorite dish, spaghetti bolognese, doesn’t have to be as unhealthy as you might think!

The children’s favorite dishes are now healthier, but taste at least as good

With these three dishes, it is no longer impossible for children to eat something tasty AND something healthy at the same time. That would make the whole family happy, right?!
