Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) – Children from 33 Polish dioceses will gather this Saturday, September 17, in Warsaw for the Mission Synod (cf. The children come at the end of a two-year preparation, during which they have studied the meaning of a synod and the children’s ministry, and they have learned the “synodic prayer”, which they now pray at every meeting and on the 17th of the month. . At the monthly meetings, they deepened their knowledge of the Holy Mass. They also participated in the creation of a “diocesan bulletin”, which is a graphic representation of the children’s missionary involvement in their diocese. All these leaves are bound and form a synod book. As part of this preparatory work, the founders have also made small videos illustrating the various mission activities. In June this year, at the end of the school year, the delegates from the various dioceses were officially sent to the synod by their bishops.
The Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw hosts the Synod of Children on Mission, organized jointly with the Faculty of Missiology. The program will include moments of prayer, group work and games, while Sister Roberta Tremarelli, Secretary General of the Pontifical Mission Societies and Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, as well as the President of the Mission Commission of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and Bishop Jan Piotrowski of Kielce will address the children.
“The Synod of the Kindermissionswerk will be a good opportunity to meet and celebrate the 100th anniversary together. We are happy to be a work of the Pope’s part of the universal Church,” concludes Sister.
