You can find them in four different colors:
The sound of JBL Live Pro 2 – Pleasant overall picture
Compared to its predecessor, the JBL Live Pro+, the Live Pro 2 is definitely a number better in terms of sound. And that’s saying something, because the Pro+ also had high-quality sound for their low price compared to other in-ear headphones. With the JBL Live Pro 2, everything sounds a little more pleasant, a little rounder and more well thought out. A strong bass and smooth treble ensure that you may not expect the most neutral sound here, but you can expect a very pleasant overall picture.
Everything sounds the same, everything sounds good. This is the great strength of the listeners. Whether it’s hip-hop by Kanye West or rock by the Rolling Stones – in-ears bring both into your ear canal without large corners and edges. It might sound a little too smooth for one or the other, but if you just want to listen to music as casually as possible, you’ve come to the right place. The same applies to spoken content, i.e. podcasts and audiobooks. Here, too, you can safely turn up the volume to the maximum without clipping.
Want to know how the JBL Live Pro 2 fares in direct comparison with the competition? So take a look at our list of the best:
ANC – Adaptive noise reduction and ambient mode
That 150 euro in-ears offer noise reduction is not a given. The JBL Live Pro 2 not only offers ANC, but even adaptive noise cancellation. The headphones can therefore automatically adapt to your environment and regulate the noise reduction accordingly. This worked very well in the test. The noise reduction itself is average. Constant noise at low frequencies is blocked quite well, while conversations or announcements in the train can still be heard clearly. For the middle price range, the performance is certainly more than solid.
As a counterpart to the ANC mode, JBL also offers an ambient mode. If you turn it on, an additional amount of ambient noise penetrates the listeners. A technology similar to ANC is also used for phone calls. Six microphones pick up your voice while reducing ambient noise. Again, the JBL Live Pro 2 does a great job.
that JBL Live Pro 2 in Practice – strong battery, powerful app
As already mentioned, the JBLs do not do anything completely new, but do a lot of known things better. The handset’s battery life is a strong ten hours. Even with ANC on, they last for over seven hours, a value that we otherwise only find in more expensive premium models. You can charge it up to three times in the charging case. Of course, JBL has not forgotten the fast charging function. And they pack a punch: After just ten minutes in the charging case, you can use the headphones for up to two and a half hours (up to four without ANC). Compared to the JBL Live Pro+, the manufacturer from the USA has added a lot to the battery.
JBL has also perfected the fit of the in-ears. Naturally based on the AirPods Pro, thanks to the handle, the earphones provide a comfortable distribution of the low weight of 4.8 g. Even after a full working day with JBL Live Pro 2 use, you will not feel any pressure or any unpleasant sensation in your ear . In addition, there is a fixed fit if one of the three included in-ear accessories fits your ears. The JBLs are also very suitable as sports headphones. The protection against splash water, certified according to the IPX5 standard, also sets them apart as such.
Control – One of the most comprehensive apps on the market
Playback can be controlled and the listening mode switched between ANC and ambient via touch fields on the headphones, as we know from most true wireless headphones. The headphones respond to the slightest touch. While this is comfortable for the ears, it also means that you often accidentally stop the music when adjusting the listening position. Both earpieces can be programmed separately with commands such as start/stop, skip or “answer call”. This is possible via the associated JBL app, which offers many other functions.
Besides brands like Jabra, JBL is one of the headphone manufacturers with the most comprehensive app. Are you a music lover and would like to customize the sound, controls and even the volume of your own voice? Then you have come to the right place at JBL. Because all this can be done in the very clearly structured and high-quality designed app. You can also see the battery status there and find the headphones if you’ve misplaced them. Here, JBL relies on a high degree of user-friendliness.
The same applies to the connection with the smartphone. Whether via the app or the Bluetooth settings: JBL Live Pro 2 connects in no time at all and is always in use from the moment you take them out of the charging case. The connection is stable and was always uninterrupted in the test.
JBL Live Pro 2 looks very smart in the ear as in the pictures. If you like the AirPods-like design, you will be more than happy with the headphones. The charging case is also pleasantly small and fits in even the tightest of pockets. Yes, the plastic does not make the most valuable impression, but here you will still find a well-thought-out and successful design, which can be admired in four different colors.
