Friends of classical music can look forward to a concert with the baroque ensemble from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the pilgrimage church in Triberg.

Triberg – It is thanks to the initiative of four citizens who are already involved in other cultural matters in the area.

The realization of the large-scale musical project in 2004 by Dolf Peter Oebbecke from Schonach could quickly be put on “safe ground” because the city administration of Triberg, Volksbank director Manfred Kuner, the entrepreneur Hans Dhonau and the Catholic church community were willing to carry out this action in any to support respect.

developed a friendly relationship

Over the years, a particularly friendly relationship has developed between the promoters, the city of Triberg and the top musicians. A benefit concert was also given for the benefit of the pilgrim church. Meanwhile, the baroque ensemble of the Wiener Symphoniker under the direction of Christian Birnbaum, who has conducted the orchestra since the beginning of the “Triberg era”, has become an integral part of the waterfall city’s cultural offer. The highly praised series of concerts were each crowned with the release of a CD and always met with the greatest applause from the audience. Due to Corona, the last concert in Triberg church took place in 2019.

But Oebbecke, who is still passionately committed to “his symphony orchestra”, managed on his own initiative to get the entrepreneur Dhonau, Manfred Kuner and, as patron, the town priest Andreastreuer on board again. But efforts to get the city of Triberg back on this case were unsuccessful because the city had no funds available.

strings and flute sounds

City priest Andreas Treuer is proud to be able to offer a concert in a special class again this year. Oebbecke revealed the title of the event “Strings and flute sound” and noted: “This title is no coincidence, because flutist Alexandra Uhlig is giving her farewell concert with us as a soloist because she is retiring at the end of the year.” He also presented the poster and flyer designed by Gasche graphic workshop in Schonach.

As can be seen from the program booklet, a very demanding program is again offered. Birnbaum, who like his entire ensemble is looking forward to the performance in Triberg, describes this in the foreword as follows: “We are very happy to be able to play music for you again in the beautiful pilgrimage church ‘Maria in the Tanne’. The motto ‘Strings and flute sound’ is also an opportunity to bring out the core competence of our ensemble, the special string sound”.

“We are happy that we could once again invite this excellent orchestra to Triberg. Since we are not making a CD, we would like to thank the city of Triberg, which has made the remaining CD stock from previous concerts available to us. can give to concertgoers and all those interested in music at a reduced price,’ says Manfred Kuner.
