iPhone SE: New design from 2023?

Experience has shown that Apple usually uses the design of an older model for its entry-level iPhones, but uses newer components inside. For example, the iPhone SE 3, which has been available since spring 2022, has the appearance of the iPhone 8 and the A15 chip from the current premium iPhone 13. A special feature of the budget mobile phone: there is also a 3rd generation still has a chunky edge with a home button that unlocks the screen via Touch ID (fingerprint). An industry insider now believes they know Apple plans to modernize this design as early as next year.

Will the iPhone SE 4 come with Face ID?

As usually well-informed industry expert Jon Prosser reports on the Geared Up podcast, Apple will finally bury the home button with the iPhone SE 4 and introduce Face ID as the unlocking technology for the entry-level model. The design is said to come from the iPhone XR, which first appeared in 2018 and features the camera cutout in the display (“notch”) that is still typical of Apple today. The display should therefore increase from the current 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches. This would also make room for a larger battery. The cameras, on the other hand, can remain unchanged. Both the iPhone SE 3 and iPhone XR have a 13-megapixel main camera and a 7-megapixel front camera. It is conceivable, however, that Apple will fine-tune the software and e.g. add the popular night mode to the camera.

iPhone SE 4 Release Date

It is still unclear when Apple will release its new entry-level smartphone. However, since the demand for the 3rd generation iPhone SE does not seem to match the initial expectations, a release of the iPhone SE 4 in the spring of 2023 is conceivable.
