Where do we celebrate children’s birthdays? Seven great ideas for children’s parties in Berlin

Anyone who has ever tried to keep a horde of elementary school kids happy with pot smashes, treasure hunts and popsicle sticks will painfully quickly come to the conclusion: Next year, we’ll do it differently, please!

If you’re lucky and have a garden, you can rent a bouncy castle. Of course only in summer. It is always more complicated for winter children. What to do? Where? It doesn’t matter if you’re partying in the cold season or just don’t feel like entertaining a crowd at home – we’ve got a few cool ideas that are sure to score points.

Dino-researcher in the Museum of Natural History

The bad news first: the weekends are in high demand. And dates in the cold months in particular are sometimes fully booked a year or two in advance – which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try and maybe get lucky. Now from September 2022, appointments can again be booked for 2023.

In principle, children’s birthdays can also be held during the week (except Mondays; always from 3pm) in the Natural History Museum. The offers are rated according to the age of the children, and each party lasts about three hours. There’s a dinosaur party for five-year-olds and a trip down memory lane for eight-year-olds.

In addition, a set party table awaits the birthday child and his guests. You either have to bring your own drinks and food, or you can buy them in the museum café (important: book in advance!). If you want, you can also order a birthday tour, for example (50 euros fixed price including entrance fee for 45 minutes). Dino crafts cost 110 euros (plus entrance fee), as does the trip into the past.

Natural History Museum, Invalidenstraße 43, 10115 Mitte, Natural History Museum underground station (also: Tram M5, M8, M10).

Jump without end in Jump3000

More than 50 jumping mats, exciting parkour routes, 2000 square meters of action: If you want the children to tire themselves out at the birthday party, you’ve come to the right place. Allow two and a half hours for the visit, of which approximately 90 minutes is pure jumping time.

After the jump, a menu of your choice (pizza or hotdogs) is served and there is a fixed price for drinks included in the package price (from 160 euros). The price also includes the special jump socks that must be used. Indoor trainers must be brought to parkour.

Jump3000, Landsberger Strasse 217-218, 12623 Mahlsdorf

Go wild in Tommy’s Tobewelt

Bright children’s eyes and sweaty, bright red faces are simply part of Tommy’s turbulent frolic world. No child will voluntarily pause here – unless they take a quick sip. There is simply too much to experience: climbing, sliding, jumping, swinging, throwing, shooting.

There are five different birthday packages to choose from. Included is at least one drink per child, a decorated birthday table with throne and name tag and something to eat (eg chicken nuggets and fries).

The costs are between 16 and 28 euros per child, and 2 euros more on weekends and Fridays. Adults must pay the regular admission price. The parties are suitable for children between two and eleven. You are welcome to bring birthday cake, but no other food and drink. Don’t forget to stop socks!

Tommy’s Tobewelt, Roelckestrasse 105, 13088 Weißensee. It is an eight-minute walk from the Pasedagplatz tram stop (tram 12, 27; also: bus 156, 158, X54).

Celebrate royally at Charlottenburg Palace

Many girls dream of being a princess, of walking through the castle, of dancing in a ball gown. It doesn’t have to remain a dream, because Charlottenburg Castle makes just that possible: a journey back in time to the 18th century.

The birthday child is king or queen. Haircuts and costumes are done, the court is discussed, then the children marvel at the magnificent premises and finally a proper minuet is danced – to baroque music specially recorded by the Berlin Residence Orchestra.

Up to 12 people (including two accompanying persons) can attend this royal party. Duration: approximately 2.5 hours. Bookable on weekends until 18 December 2022 (also 3 October; 10:00 and 14:00) for children between 7 and 12 years. The birthday party costs 135 euros per group.

PS: If you like it a little wilder: In the Grunewald hunting castle you can celebrate children’s birthdays under the motto “It’s ghosting”. This party is also suitable for children from 7 to 12 years and lasts about 2.5 hours. The price is the same, namely 135 euros per group (max. 12 people, including two accompanying people).

Charlottenburg Palace, Spandauer Damm 10-22, 14059 Berlin. It is an 11-minute walk from Westend S-Bahn station (S46, Ringbahn).

Make music and try it out in Klingendes Museum

If your child loves music, a party in Klingendes Museum might be just the thing: Here the children can try different instruments, guided by an experienced music teacher. Finally, the birthday child is allowed to conduct the small orchestra.

There will of course also be a banquet and drinks. The birthday parties are suitable for children of all ages. If you want, Klingendes Museum can even come to your home.

Depending on which package you order, the event lasts between two and almost four hours and costs between 150 and 350 euros. Tip: With the Grande package you even build your own instruments.

Musical Museum, Behmstraße 13, 13357 Gesundbrunnen, directly at the Gesundbrunnen underground and S-Bahn station (Ringbahn, S1, S2, S25, U8) or behind the Gesundbrunnen Center.

What a circus: stand in the ring yourself

Learning to juggle, trying acrobatics, walking on a giant ball: the birthday party in the Cabuwazi children’s circus is one of the most extraordinary challenges you can offer children in Berlin. So much fun and enthusiasm for new things is rare – the children learn something that not everyone can, and of which they will be incredibly proud from now on.

The festival program can be organized individually. At the moment, only the Tempelhof circus offers to host children’s birthday parties, but Cabuwazi’s website is updated regularly. It is planned that the other five locations will also offer birthday parties again.

Depending on the package ordered, the time of year and the location, the costs amount to around 350 euros. You can order decorations, cakes, snacks and drinks or bring your own. Up to 20 children can currently participate in Tempelhof and are instructed by two coaches. There will be three hours of exercises and practice, with a total of one hour as a break.

By agreement, it is also possible for the children to give their parents a small performance of their newly learned art at the end.

Children’s circus Cabuwazi, Columbiadamm 84, 10965 Tempelhof. It is only a two-minute walk from the Golßener Straße bus stop (bus M43).
