98 percent of the children in Achern get a childcare place

Bottlenecks are reduced

The new day care center on the Glashütten site in Achern ensures relaxation during childcare. For the first time, a central registration via the Internet is possible.

There will be some changes in the childcare of the city of Achern from September. For example, parents have possibility of obtaining a proportionate refund of kindergarten fees if at least 22 hours of childcare are lost in one month. You must submit a written request to this effect.

Fees will increase by about four percent from September. The local council’s administration, culture and social committee agrees with the regulations proposed by the municipality.

The day care institution Glas Hütten Land on the former Glashütten site is new to the portfolio. It stands directly behind the noise protection wall on the B3 and is currently still largely scaffolding. It is scheduled to take effect on October 17 and will be officially inaugurated at the end of October. To be able to run six groups, 18 new full-time employees are needed.

Good applications for a new day care institution on the Glashütte site in Achern

The city administration received “many and good applications” for the new day care institution, informs Mayor Klaus Muttach. The manager is already on duty and will work in an office at City Hall until the building is completed.

Including the new day care institution, the city of Achern will in the future run seven kindergartens, as many as the Catholic parish. As of October, there are 31 groups with 604 care places and 77 full-time positions in municipal day care institutions. The church day care institutions offer 33 groups with 657 places and almost 75 full-time positions.

In total, Achern has 1,261 childcare places between one year and school age from October onwards. The staff costs that the city will have to spend on the almost 152 full-time positions amount to 8.66 million euros.

Acherner parents can list three favorite kindergartens online

In 2022, 161 children were registered for childcare in the new pre-registration register. In the church day care institutions, registration continued via a personal visit to the day care institution. They should switch to the electronic procedure from 2023. On the Internet, parents can indicate their wishes and three kindergartens that suit them.

In the first year, 138 children received direct approval for the facility they wanted, and others were “redirected” to the new kindergarten, which many did not yet know. There are still 45 places for children over the age of three for the new kindergarten year. There are also vacancies for three to six year olds in Gamshurst. For children under the age of three, demand continues to exceed supply.

The Mösbach kindergarten must therefore be expanded with one group in the new kindergarten year. A new group of toddlers is moving into the former gym, which is today used as a staff room. The day care management and the team then use the premises in the assembly hall. According to department head Klaus-Dieter Kramer, 98 percent of the registered children will be offered a childcare place.

Playgroups for Ukrainian children

When asked by Heike Schwenk (Acherner Bürger Liste), Mayor Klaus Muttach emphasized that no distinction was made between nationalities. Children of asylum seekers are usually registered by social workers or carers. There are playgroups for Ukrainian children. Where there are too few childcare places available, working and single mothers are preferred.

“We are happy that the bottlenecks are getting smaller,” Edgar Gleiß told the Free Voters. The CDU welcomes the central registration, says city councilor Christine Rösch. Nils Günnewich (The Greens) stated that the fees are “a feat of strength” for the parents in some forms of care. Several city council members criticized that Achern day care institutions provided too little education. comment
