Brilliant design: HMI panel from LEONHARD KURZ and Swarovski Mobility receive the famous ABC Award, LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG, press release

LEONHARD KURZ can look forward to receiving the acclaimed ABC Award for the third time: At this year’s Automotive Brand Contest, the Smart Crystal Panel for the vehicle’s interior received the “Special Mention” award. The innovative human-machine interface panel (HMI panel) was created in collaboration with Swarovski Mobility and the KURZ subsidiaries BURG DESIGN and PolyIC and was presented for the first time at CES 2022.

Unique designs of the extra class

Smart Crystal Panel impresses with its luxurious design and unique sophistication: Solid, high-quality Swarovski crystals are integrated into the component, which impresses at first glance with their depth effect and multiple reflections. Backlighting creates a special lighting atmosphere in the cockpit – and holographic effects can also be achieved by imprinting pictograms. However, the functionality of the HMI panel provides the special wow effect: thanks to the integrated PolyTC®– Operate sensors by touch.

Another highlight is the panel’s elegant surface: thanks to the combination of gravure and serigraphy, countless design variations can be implemented, including day-night design, metallization and true carbon looks. The various light and color effects can be changed using the touch buttons integrated in the device. Three protesters were already presented at CES, showcasing the range of options: from the cool, elegant lighting mode to a sporty design in classic black with crystals in a smoky glass look to the luxurious lounge mode with glittering gold effects.

Design concept for tomorrow’s car

“The mobility of the future is sustainable, smart, networked and allows design to merge with functionality. Megatrends such as electromobility and autonomous driving will play a crucial role in the coming years and shape vehicle interiors,” explains Jörg Stierand, Divisional Sales Director Automotive at KURZ. “Design continues to become more important, and the interior is increasingly transformed into another living room, where an extravagant, individually adaptable look is just as important as smart functionalities. We are one step ahead of this development and offer our customers added value by developing innovative concepts based on the latest technical standards. Thanks to advanced indium metallization, our HMI panel is radar wave permeable and supports 5G applications. Of course, we are all the more pleased that the international experts in the Automotive Brand Contest are also honoring our achievement. ”

Overall competence for real added value

With LEONHARD KURZ, Swarovski Mobility, BURG DESIGN and PolyIC, four absolute experts in their respective fields are involved in the development of the award-winning panel. Thanks to well-founded expertise in plastic decoration, KURZ creates impressive, backlit surfaces – and enriches them together with the subsidiary BURG DESIGN with unique finishing effects such as shy-tech design. PolyIC’s innovative sensors, which are invisible to the human eye, enable the integration of intelligent functions. Swarovski, on the other hand, has many years of expertise in dealing with crystal and the production of high-quality, precisely cut crystals that transform each component into a true highlight.
