Rodenbach – They are all excited, the young singers, whether they are new to the choir or have been there for a while. The first main rehearsal of the musical is approaching, for the first time in costumes and for the first time on stage for the Rodenbach Ballet. The first thing to do is to get things in order, and with the first bars, the Olympians move into the hall.

Everything works fine. Choir leader Christel Stolle is very satisfied and immediately places his protégés on stage. So now they can get started, the young singers.

“Preparations for the performance of the children’s musical ‘The Olympiad of the Gods’ have been in full swing for weeks,” says Volker Bingel, chairman of the Niederrodenbach Folk Choir. “With this project, children’s and youth choirs must get a new boost. We are very pleased that we were able to provide such an offer to the children. “Volkschor was able to receive financial support for this project through the action program” Aufholpaket “for the German Korungdom, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs , women, the elderly and the young. After a day of musical experience, where choir leader Stolle presented the musical and invited people to sing along, many young singers were so excited that they joined the Rodenbach choirs. Langenselbold and Horbach invited to participate in the musical.

Praise to choir leader Christel Stolle

Since then, about 50 children and young people have practiced under the direction of Christel Stolle. The rehearsal weekend was one of the boys ‘and girls’ special experiences. In the hostel in Büdingen, the “Olympiad of the Gods” got its icing on the cake. Now the scenery and costumes are ready and can be used for the rehearsals. The stage fright increases not only among the singers, but probably also among the parents. Some follow their children’s rehearsal performance very close to the stage. “It’s going to be great,” says one mother excitedly. “The way Christel Stolle does it is simply amazing. And the kids love them. ” The chairman of the folk choir agrees: “It is admirable how our choir leader was able to form such a homogeneous group of the colorful crowd of children. The children’s commitment and joy are simply contagious. ” Bingel explains the musical itself: “The musical shows in a funny and slightly irreverent way how close the Greek gods are to the people of today with their character traits. The music is original and varied, sometimes rocket or soft, sometimes swing, sometimes rap. An exciting puzzle awaits the guests, which they should not miss. ”

Access to donations to the LaLeLu association

The performance in Rodenbach does not start until 4 pm, but the hall is already open from 2.30 pm. Visitors have the opportunity to reinforce themselves with home-baked cakes and beverages before the performance. Admission is free, but the young singers would like to help other children. They are therefore asking for generous donations. The profits from the musical benefit the LaLeLu association from Bruchköbel, which advises, supports and accompanies families with terminally ill children. (by Ulrike Pongratz)

The play was to be performed as early as 2020 - but then came the closure, and further rehearsals were limited. The performance now takes place on Sunday and the choir is already rehearsing diligently on stage.
