Finally slept in, six weeks of pure relaxation. But there can still be some variation – even if you can not travel. But what can children and young people do during their holidays in and around Eisenhüttenstadt? The MOZ took a look around and put together a small overview.
Club Marchwitza offers a five-day workshop for all children from the age of twelve who have always wanted to know how a film is made. It starts on July 11 and costs 140 euros. This includes accommodation, meals and professional instruction. The resulting works will be presented at the end of the film camp.
Gain musical experience
For those who prefer to be in front of the camera rather than behind, the popular musical camp offers space to try it out. Also as part of a five-day workshop starting on August 8, children and young people will learn to practice, dance and play and eventually present their skills to an audience of family and friends. It is still possible to register for both workshops, eg by e-mail.
The offer of the youth meeting place Jubs in Lilienthalring is primarily intended for people between ten and 27 years of age. The focus is on their own facility and everything is very open, the people in charge believe. As a rule, no registrations are required for the six theme weeks. Exceptions are events in the girls’ week and when the parents have to give consent for accommodation. Otherwise, participation should be very low-threshold and spontaneous.
“The open nature is what makes our facility so special,” stresses manager Madeleine Werner. It would be nice if children and young people already had a 9-euro ticket for the excursions. An overview of the various offers can be found on Instagram.
Many opportunities to live out your own creativity
The association Wi-Wa-Wunderland also offers a wide range of activities with its various facilities. In the open children and youth area in Jugendkeller Jucke there is still room for some offers. For example, at “Sylicensen” (3 August at 13.00 to 16.00 and 4 August at 10.00 to 13.00), where young people learn to use the sewing machine under supervision. Or at a painting and creative workshop on 17 and 18 August from 10.00 to 14.00. Registrations are also currently being received for the holiday trip to Lake Schwerin (8 to 12 August) and for the one-day trip to Babelsberg on 13 July.
As a special highlight, the chairman of Wi-Wa-Wunderland would like to highlight the photo days that take place on 13 and 14 July. The reason for this is a competition for children and young people between the ages of ten and twenty, which has been running since mid-May. Pictures from Eisenhüttenstadt and the surrounding area can be submitted until 30 September. The best photos, selected by a jury, will be printed as postcards and sold in the tourist information, just as they will be published as a calendar next year. Photo days will be arranged for some tips for the competition.
Workshops for participation and excursion destinations
The mobile youth work in Neissemünde also offers numerous trips. For example, there will be a photo rally in Ratzdorf on July 26 and a fishing camp in Wellmitz on August 18 and 19. The EFZ4You children and youth center also offers a varied program. In addition to a three-day graffiti workshop from 21 to 23 July and a painting and creative workshop (8 and 9 September), a music workshop will also be offered. Hopeful DJs and rappers can try and learn about technology and skills for four days (from August 15).
As the district head of the district office officer, Ellen Costrau, told us on the issue, this year’s holiday diploma is also very popular. The events, all of which are offered for free, are already largely fully booked. However, there are still enough places available to visit the double shaft lock (different dates), design herb gardens (July 25), “My city – today and in the past” (July 29) and design with natural materials (August 5) . There are at least a few seats left for “Dance into Summer”, low glass heads, low paper, creative design with fabric, sports festival, low notebooks and “Dancing as in Tahiti”. The holiday diploma booklet can be picked up at the district office in Alte Poststraße 2.
