The stool like a bouquet of flowers
“Hip Höck” is the name of the brand new Swiss stool collection – a project by Grego Architektur and textile designer Sonnhild Kestler.

They are brand new, the beautiful stools “HIP HÖCK” by the two Swiss designers Sonnhild Kestler and Jasmin Grego. For Sweet Home, I looked at the first examples in the Zurich store Thema Selection.
“The stools are a seat, a side table or a sculpture in one. Like a colorful bouquet of flowers, they complement each room. ”

While I was putting the stools in the light and taking pictures, the first interested people were already coming to the store. A young couple sat down on all the gems and were eager to reserve one of the chairs. The first series of 40 stools will be offered in a launch sale this weekend.

Sonnhild Kestler creates friendly, cheerful fabrics at a “One Woman” factory. She designs and develops, among other things, scarves, dresses, shirts, accessories, beach towels, blankets, pillows and fabrics, which she sells exclusively in her own store at Thema Selection. Her works are now world famous and have even been shown in “New York Times” presented.

Studio Grego designed the furniture for the interior of Sol Heure, a bar and restaurant in Solothurn, using fabrics by Sonnhild Kestler.
Jasmin Grego is an architect and runs it together with Stephanie Kühnle Gregory Architects. She describes her work as architecture from within. Grego’s specialties are architecture and interior design for objects with a high degree of complexity and details that require new buildings or alterations to existing – often historic – fabric, hotels, restaurants and bars, nursing homes, health buildings, workplaces and private houses. This often includes special designs for furniture.

Interior designer Jasmin Grego and textile designer Sonnhild Kestler have been friends for a long time. During the lockdown, the two have studied a joint project and decided to design and produce a collection of stools.

The result is «HIP HÖCK», a stool collection with five stools in five shapes and three colors. In this project, Grego Architektur is responsible for the design and implementation of the production of the stools. Sonnhild Kestler has designed the furniture fabrics. “I worked with many figurative and abstract forms for designs,” Sonnhild explains. The upholstery fabrics are fine jacquart fabrics woven at a factory in Belgium. All designs are available in three colors.

The carpentry work was done in Emmental and the stools were upholstered in Aargau. “Sonnhild’s idea of bringing strong designs into the room has appealed to us for a long time. Our idea is with ‹HIP HÖCK›collection to add another shape and dimension to the ornament on textiles, ”explains Jasmin Grego of the successful collaboration.

“Our stools are compact, mobile objects and versatile little companions.”
