Berlin’s TV tower turns green

With their winning poster, Felix, Reto and Hanzhang see a green future for Berlin. The Berlin TV tower stands on a green meadow, which in addition to many flowers is also home to cows. The well-known attraction is surrounded by a futuristic-looking building complex consisting of several round towers. True to the motto “My home with a future” is roofs and facades clad with plants and trees. A collection system directs rainwater from the roofs to the ground, creating a river that flows around buildings and the TV tower. And if you look closely, you will also discover solar panels on the building that provide low-emission energy. One thing is clear: Less pollution and a life in harmony with nature are the cornerstones of a sustainable home!

Many works of art contain solutions such as sustainable energy production, green roofs, more urban nature and alternative mobility concepts that will make our homes more livable. There are also visionary posters showing our city with small houses, solar-powered drones or flying zero-emission cars. A motif that is always popular is the TV tower in Berlin or the Brandenburg Gate, which is surrounded by green areas and on which plants climb.

“It is important for us not only to offer our guests excellent shopping opportunities, but also convincing events. We are therefore pleased to be able to present the poster exhibition for this year’s wirBERLIN competition in our house,” says Oliver Hanna, Center Manager at ALEXA. “The 150 exhibitions show how diverse and imaginative Berlin children imagine and dream of their future home. The exhibition will definitely be an inspiring experience for our visitors.”

“Our growing city faces major future tasks. Housing construction, mobility, urban green spaces as well as rising average temperatures, droughts, particles and CO2 pollution are challenges that Berlin must prepare for. Solutions are needed to make the city more resilient. “for these challenges and for improving the quality of life of the residents. That was the deciding factor for this year’s competition, and I am excited about the strong visions for the future of our Berlin children,” said Beate Ernst, initiator of wirBERLIN.

The message is clear: Our home with a future must be habitable and environmentally friendly!” sums up Anne Sebald, project manager of the poster competition at wirBERLIN.
