“Jurassic World 3” starts today. Choking on his own nostalgia, he gets stuck in story lines and lots of characters with Chris Pratt, lots of dinosaurs and the “old” team from “Jurassic Park”.

There are many dinosaurs and grasshoppers, but unfortunately nothing behind them. 29 years ago, the dinosaurs took over Hollywood. With Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” came an adventure film in cinemas that became a real ticket hit. Seven years ago there was a new Jurassic trilogy. This time no longer Park, but World. The third and final part is now in theaters.
“Jurassic World 3”: Neither scary, apocalyptic nor dystopian
It could have been a great movie, Jurassic World: A New Age. Beautifully eerie, apocalyptic, dystopian. In the first few minutes, the film shows a world where dinosaurs and humans coexist, where every trip to the supermarket, every trip with the family can be your last because a pterodactyl crosses your path, or a T-Rex lurks around the corner.
“Jurassic World 3” played away its potential
A realization that comes almost too late for everyone involved, for “Jurassic World: A New Age” takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar and thus four years after the previous film. Dinosaurs now live and hunt everywhere, and the earth’s ecological balance has been shaken. But the next disaster for the people is just around the corner – and thus the film gambles its potential to concentrate fully on the relationship between dinosaurs and humans. Like a biblical plague, genetically modified grasshoppers are spreading across continents, destroying crops, and the world is facing a catastrophic famine.
Director Colin Trevorrow at Science in Film
Like the very first Jurassic Park from 1993, “Jurassic World: A New Era” plays with the possibilities of genetic technology, but according to director Colin Trevorrow, it stays close to the current state of science. “It’s a movie about the power of genetics, which also happens to have dinosaurs,” says Trevorrow. “I’m more concerned with the status quo today. We have the ability to change DNA. Genetic engineering of insects is already happening. And to be honest, it’s a little out of control. There are genetically modified mosquitoes in Florida, it” There are genetically modified grasshoppers that reproduce very rapidly. I see our film almost as a warning to science not to overdo it. “
Usual ingredients for dino action movies with familiar faces

In Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: A New Age, Jeff Goldblum plays Dr. Ian Malcolm, as in the first and second parts of the trilogy.
Do not overdo it, a credo movie does not comply. Almost like a checklist, he works through the usual Dino action movie ingredients. Dinosaur hunts, megalomaniac scientist, race against time, battles between dinosaurs and dinosaurs, battles between dinosaurs and humans. The actors are familiar faces. In addition to the dinosaur whisperer Owen Grady, played again in a charming comrade manner by Chris Pratt, the old Jurassic Park guard around Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neil is also present.
First-generation actors get their moments just as much as the current one, but “Jurassic World 3” devotes itself too much to its own franchise history. Director Trevorrow manages to make the action scenes look spectacular and quote iconic moments from the first film.
In the end, however, the film suffocates in its own nostalgia and gets stuck in too many stories and characters – many dinosaurs, many grasshoppers, but unfortunately nothing behind it.
