Wittstock: Thousands of visitors had fun at the family festival in the Amtshof
Wittstock.Beautiful sunny weather and 18 practical stands attracted thousands of visitors to Wittstocks Amtshof on Saturday afternoon. The traditional children’s and family festival in the town of Wittstock had previously always taken place in the marketplace. “Unfortunately, it had to be canceled in the last two years due to the corona pandemic,” said Angie Große of Wittstock’s Youth Welfare Office. She and her colleague Manuela Ruschke were the main organizers of the festival, which was celebrated for the first time in the Amtshof.

Only last year had the youth office provided the opportunity for hands-on stands and stands from Wittstock day care institutions and schools to participate in the “Open Air Gallery” with various art projects. The place was Amtshof. “But we had hoped for more resonance,” said Silvana Haack, head of Wittstock daycare “Dossespatzen”. However, she was excited about the event on Saturday. “It is a huge success and at the same time a fantastic opportunity to present our day care institution to a wide public,” says the day care institution manager.
At the “Open Air Gallery”, the day care institution “Kinderland” offered visitors an original opportunity to create a work of art. Parents had blown out eggs and filled them with paint, which could then be thrown at a total of four white screens, each 80 by 80 centimeters in size. “Because there were only happy people with us that day, we called the entire work of art ‘Glücksbild’,” explained daycare manager Nicole Mittelstädt.

Glücksbild from the day care institution Wittstock Kinderland was auctioned off
The colorful picture was auctioned off at the children’s and family festival on Saturday. “Originally we wanted to do it at the Christmas market last year, but it was canceled because of Corona,” said Nicole Mittelstädt. Now the four “paintings” came under the hammer last Saturday. Peggy Samusch from Wittstocker Bürgerbüro took over the auction.

“It would be nice if someone could find enough space for the whole work of art,” she said. In fact, it went to four bidders at the auction in individual parts. Jessica Lemke, for example, who bought a picture for 20 euros at an auction, wanted the picture at work. During his walk in Rostock, Andreas Gröbke wanted to hang up his picture, which had also been auctioned off for 20 euros. Nicole Gehlhaar bought the last of the four pictures for 40 euros. “I give it to Kinderland Kindergarten as a souvenir,” said the mother, whose daughter visits the facility.
Wittstock’s family festival now always takes place at the Amtshof
Speaker Günter Lutz provided appropriate music on Saturday, “Uncle Oskars Puppenbühne” entertained a large audience with Punch and Judy and there was plenty of food and drink. For example, at the stand at the Städtisches Gymnasium, where the tenth graders gathered for their graduation ceremony.

The Esta Ruppin club showed tricks. There was Hille Heineke, school social worker at the elementary school Waldring with her circus company. But her Esta colleague Eurim Kuppe also showed some acrobatic art with “Gauklerkids”. “We have now also created the opportunity to attend the ‘Erich Kästner’ special school,” she said.
The beekeepers’ association showed its show colonies, which were face painting and plenty of opportunity to frolic, for example on the bouncy castles from “Hüpfburg WK”. Angie Große and Manuela Ruschke were pleased with the course of the festival. As you said, it should again take place regularly every Saturday after International Children’s Day at the Amtshof.
