Solana integration and Web3 accessibility improved

The Brave Browser is a fast and privacy-friendly web browser that integrates Solana Blockchain to extend the reach of Web3 applications.

Brave’s new purse

Brave is a privacy-focused browser that blocks ads and trackers by default. The browser, which has been downloaded over 1 million times, was developed by Brendan Eich, inventor of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla and Firefox.

The new Brave browser also has a built-in crypto wallet that stores users’ BATs in a private space on their device. With the latest desktop version of the Brave browser, customers can now access Solana blockchain technology through their browser.

This partnership enables seamless access to a growing ecosystem of decentralized apps (DApps) with significantly lower transaction fees and faster processing times than the Ethereum network.

Improved user benefits and access to Web3

In the coming months, Brave will roll out full integration with Solana to provide a better experience for users looking for an alternative to Web3.

With update 1.39, users of Brave Wallet Solana (SOL) and their tokens can buy, sell and hold. In addition, Solana and other cryptocurrencies can be purchased with fiat currencies using Ramp. BAT owners can also purchase NFTs from Magic Eden.

Brave Wallet is a solution that brings the power of the Brave browser to users’ wallets. Users can send, receive and store their cryptocurrencies with the Brave wallet app, with a higher level of security than any mobile or hardware wallet.

Enthusiastic CEOs about partnership

The long-term vision for Brave and Solana is to further explore the possibilities of this integration, including using Solana as the default network for Brave Wallet and BAT. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said:

The addition of Solana to the Brave wallet is an important step towards bringing a billion users to Web3.

Brave CEO and co-founder Brendan Eich said:

As the leading Web3 browser, Brave now offers integration with Solana blockchain, allowing users and developers to shop seamlessly over Solana’s fast and cost-effective network. […] We also look forward to DApp support in an upcoming release to take advantage of Solana’s growing and thriving DApp ecosystem.

Buy Solana now with Ramp

Brave has partnered with Ramp to offer Brave users the ability to quickly and easily purchase cryptocurrencies through the Brave wallet. Ramp has created a new model for buying cryptocurrencies with fiat so users can keep their money in their personal wallets.

Solana’s partnership with Brave is an important milestone. This is the first onramp partner in Brave Wallet to offer the option to purchase cryptocurrencies directly through the Solana network.

This partnership introduces a streamlined process and an affordable opportunity for millions of Brave users to purchase assets directly from the Brave Wallet for use in Solana’s thriving ecosystem.

Most other wallets require users to perform actions across multiple platforms to complete a purchase: Users must purchase crypto on an exchange, find and double-check their wallet address, and then send the purchased crypto back to their wallet. The Brave Wallet or Ramp integration provides a way to buy crypto directly in the Brave Wallet.

Ramp is a blockchain-based payment method that allows users to buy, sell and receive tokens from Ethereum and Avalanche-compatible blockchains quickly and easily. Greg McEwan, Head of Marketing at Ramp, said the following:

Like Brave, we are dedicated to providing the world with fast, convenient and secure access to Web3. With the integration of Ramp, Brave users can spend more time doing what they love and less time on the tedious process of converting their fiat currencies into cryptocurrencies.

Buy NFTs on Magic Eden with BAT

The Magic Eden ecosystem is a powerful environment where users are rewarded for their contributions and participation. One of Brave’s goals for BAT growth in 2022 was to increase support for BAT / NFT use in the NFT marketplaces.

Today, they are pleased to announce the partnership with Magic Eden, the largest community-first NFT-based Web3 ecosystem. In future releases, BAT holders will also be able to use BAT to purchase NFTs on Magic Eden via the Brave wallet as well as other Solana DApp wallets such as Phantom.

In addition, Magic Eden NFTs can also be purchased through our partnership with Decentraland, Decentraland’s own Ethereum-based utility token.

Magic Eden’s mission is to enable users to buy, sell and own digital collectibles that cannot be censored or taken from them.

With the Solana integration, users will be able to purchase unique NFTs with BAT and can look forward to acquiring new cross-chain capabilities for their BAT inventory. Magic Eden CTO and founder Sidney Zhang said:

Magic Eden and Brave users are two of the most active and vibrant crypto communities in the world. By enabling them to trade NFTs on Magic Eden with BAT, they can bring new token use capabilities in Solana NFTs to Brave’s crypto-savvy audience. The integration of a Solana dApp-enabled similar Brave wallet into the marketplace will push the ecosystem further.

New Brave Wallet for more security and easier use

Brave Wallet is the secure, easy way to get started with Web3 and is a seamless browser wallet that takes the guesswork and sometimes blind faith of installing risky crypto wallet extensions into consideration.

Brave has announced a major update with the release of Brave 1.39, which includes support for Solana and Ramp to provide even more speed and security, as well as additional features that give users control over their web experience. With these integrations, Brave Wallet will be able to work with multiple chains for faster and more private browsing.
