Kinder-Lebens-Lauf moves – in more ways than one

NUREMBERGER insurance

Every 105 minutes, a child dies of an incurable disease in Germany. The affected families are often left alone with their fate, their grief and their pain. Because many outsiders do not know how to behave properly and prefer to withdraw. Kinder-Lebens-Lauf run by Bundesverband Kinderhospiz e. V

Since the beginning of April, the angel torch, the symbol of the Child Life Race, has been on its journey through Germany – from one children’s hospice to another. “The 7,000-kilometer journey through Germany has one goal: Affected families want their life-threatening children to be able to live as normally as possible. They are looking for moments of happiness and meeting people who do not see the other way,” explains Sabine Kraft , Executive Director of the Federal Association of Children’s Hospice eV

Collaboration on child hospice work

By October 7, more than 3,000 attendees will be encouraged to participate in the Children’s Life Run. These include NÜRNBERGER Versicherung, which has worked intensively with the association for three and a half years and supports it financially, organizationally and in terms of communication. Board member Harald Rosenberger, who has sponsored the children’s hospice project, is convinced: “The affected families belong among us – if they doubt it, we have failed as a community.” That is why NÜRNBERGER Versicherung anchors the children’s hospice work in the company in a multi-layered way. Employees and agencies throughout Germany are also involved in the activities, as are sponsorships and partners. “Team spirit is extremely important when it comes to improving the living conditions of the affected families,” says Harald Rosenberger happily. From Erlangen today, he joined the team of eleven runners from Bamberg who brought the angel torch to the Nuremberg Business Tower. In line with the insurance company’s network thinking, the welcome committee included representatives from the child hospice sector as well as representatives from sports and business, including 1. FC Nürnberg, HC Erlangen and Frapack.

Anyone can increase the donation amount by moving

From Friday to Sunday, a team of NÜRNBERGER staff will bring the angel torch in three stages to the Dark Bunt Forum in Regensburg, an outpatient pediatric hospice service. The trail leads along the Ludwig-Donau-Main canal and the Schwarze-Laaber bike path. All the kilometers traveled are included in the movement challenge that the NÜRNBERGER Versicherung performs to accompany their part of the Children’s Life Run. Using the Coach: N app, the children’s life course is brought out into the virtual space. “Everyone can participate and support the children’s hospice work. We donate 2,500 EUR to the Bundesverband Kinderhospiz e. V. for every 7,000 kilometers traveled in the community – up to a total of 25,000 EUR,” explains Harald Rosenberger. Last-minute decision makers have until May 15 to get an activation code for the Coach: N app and participate. An e-mail to sponsoring@nuernberger.de with the subject “Children’s Life Run” is sufficient. Thanks to modern technology, the steps or kilometers that the Challenge participants have cycled from 1 May and registered via a fitness tracker or smartphone are automatically registered.

1. FC Nürnberg and HC Erlangen each contributed 1.5 million steps from their top team to the arrival of the angel torch to Business Tower Nürnberg.
