District Administrator Lewandowski visits the “Healthy Children Havelland” network.

Havelland. It was a pilot project – and the Havelland district was there. At the time, District Administrator Burkhard Schröder (SPD) placed great emphasis on this. In 2006, the foundation was laid for the network “Healthy Children” in Havelland. In 2007, the first family guides started. Margarethe von Fintel was head of the social services department at the time. The network was important to her.

memories from the beginning

Jörg Grigoleit, CEO of Havelland Kliniken Group, recalls: “We were involved from the start, first with the pilot project and then later as a sponsor.” Network coordinator Andrea Thiele would have liked to have been invited to the anniversary party last. year. “But that was not possible because of Corona.”

District Administrator Roger Lewandowski (CDU) is convinced of the usefulness of the children’s network. And even though an anniversary party was not planned, it should at least be a visit to “Jahnchen” in Rathenow. “Jahnchen” is the network’s description of the base in Jahnstraße 2. There is enough space for the offers the network has made.

Pilots

The “core business” – if you will – remains the work of the guides who go to the families participating in the network. You get comprehensive advice. Midwives and volunteers are available for this purpose.

Many questions

“Mothers and fathers certainly only want the best for their children, but it is not always easy to find out exactly what is best. Many questions arise, especially when you have your first child. ” Network coordinator Andrea Thiele knows this.

We from Havelland Healthy Children Network want to support parents in finding the right answers for themselves and their children. We want to follow the parents in Havellandet and promote the joy of life with children. ” The “big questions” are just as important as the “small questions” in everyday life.

Speak for the governor

Andrea Thiele presents figures to the district administrator. 709 families with 685 children and 25 pregnant women were registered per. December 31, 2021. 248 families come from Rathenow, 66 from Falkensee. “When we visit, we always keep an eye on the whole family,” says Andrea Thiele.

Statistics after 16 years

About a quarter of all families have major problems due to the social structure. “But most questions come from families with medium to high social skills,” says the network coordinator.

An overview of the 21 networks found in the state of Brandenburg makes it clear: No other network is set up as broadly as the network in Havelland. “We have many partners and supporters,” says Andrea Thiele happily.

The doll is always there

Since 2020, the pilots have no longer come alone. They usually bring therapy hand puppets with them. “The children are always looking forward to the doll’s visit,” says Andrea Thiele.

Walking in Corona time

Visits were not limited in the two Corona years. “There was only one month where we replaced it with phone calls,” Andrea Thiele recalls. Often, visits in 2021 are also converted to outdoor walks.

So there was no interruption of the pilot work. Jörg Grigoleit still knows how difficult the process was to get the Healthy Children network up and running. “There were doubts and we got cleaned up in them in intensive conversations.” Meanwhile, no one is questioning the network.

New guidelines from the country

On the contrary: the Brandenburg Jamaica Coalition Coalition Agreement states that networks should no longer prioritize children between zero and three years of age. Care should continue until the child is six years old. Here Andrea Thiele wants to be heard again. “We have experienced that some families no longer need support after the child has reached the age of three – others do. It would be a lot of work if all children up to the age of six had to be cared for. ” Flexibility is appropriate here.

praise from the governor

District Administrator Roger Lewandowski appreciates so much commitment to young people from Havelland. “This intercepts issues that authorities such as the youth office and the National Board of Health do not have to deal with.”

Andrea Thiele has one more wish. All networks in the country receive the same amount. The network coordinator in Havelland finds this unfair. “There must be an equally high basic amount for everyone. In addition, however, the additional grants should be based on the size of the network, on offers and services. ”
