argodesign, a Texas-based product design consultant, today announced the opening of a new studio in Munich. The company already works for DreamWorks, IBM, Nederlandse Spoorwegen, CognitiveScale, Zwilling and Magic Leap, among others, and was founded by design legend Mark Rolston. So far, in Germany, they have primarily been known for ideas such as the private ring or their work for the kitchen machine manufacturer Zwilling. The expansion brings argodesign closer to customers in one of the most robust product markets in the world, as well as top design talent.
“Germany has a fantastic culture for designing, constructing and manufacturing the highest quality products,” says Mark Rolston, founder and CEO of Argodesign, “especially in the scientific and industrial markets. We are excited about the prospect of working with these companies together and support them to take advantage of modern software and digital transformation. ”
Mark Rolston, founder and creative director of Argodesign, was responsible, among other things, for designing the SAP enterprise platform and the Dell.com website in the late 1990s. In the early 2000s, he helped define several mobile interface platforms for Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Microsoft, Sprint and many others. The resulting design work spawned many of the most important UX practices used today by billions of people around the world on iOS and Android every day.
With the opening of their Munich studio, they want to attract design talent from the area to support German medium-sized companies in some major digitization projects. To do this, they bring together designers, technologists, strategic thinkers and passionate doers. The Munich office is headed by David Cleaves, who until recently was head of department, Advanced User Experience Design at BMW Group Design.
“Our ambitions in Germany are bold and modest at the same time,” said David Cleaves, Head of Creative at argo Munich. “First, we, as admirers of the famous German Mittelstand, made up of countless German brands that are leaders in their industries, know that we can learn a lot from local customers. At the same time, we can bring argos’ innovative digital and software expertise to bear. Contribute to the values behind ‘made in Germany’ by creating high-quality products – physical and digital – that play a valuable role in people’s daily lives. ”
argo sees promising opportunities in combining high-value industrial products with data-driven digital experiences that will help Germany remain competitive as a global exporter. Due to the breadth and depth of its distinctive experience, argo is able to serve customers seeking expertise in digital transformation and new areas such as artificial intelligence, mixed reality and the metaverse industries, where argo is at the forefront of thought and design.
“We admire the German tradition of respecting and understanding design,” Rolston said. “There’s an understanding here that this is not only an important facet of the business, it’s also an important facet of everyday life. Things need to be designed well. It’s in their DNA, and it’s in our DNA at argo. We So we look forward to being in this market and building a team that embodies this mindset. ”
