Following the introduction of the Agon PD27 in 2020, the AOC presents yet another gaming monitor with the Agon Pro PD32M, for which the FA Porsche studio took over the design. While the bottom of the previous model with Porsche design was intended to look like a roll bar, this time the designers took other cues from the classic Porsche sports car in the design. “With the second generation of the gaming monitor, we have taken the motorsport-inspired design even further. For example, it integrates design loans from the steering wheel and spokes of a sports car, ”explains Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer at Porsche Design.

In terms of technical data and price, the new Porsche Design display is in the premium class of gaming displays: 31.5-inch Agon Pro PD32M delivers 4K resolution with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz certified for DisplayHDR 1400 and costs 2,179 euro (RRP).

Mini LED backlight with 1,152 zones

After two Asus monitors, the Agon Pro PD32M is only the third monitor to meet the VESA requirements for the DisplayHDR 1400. In addition to local dimming, they include a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits, which is provided by a mini LED backlight with 1,152 individually controlled zones . This allows the screen to display extremely bright image areas and the deepest black at the same time. The anti-reflective IPS panel has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and achieves a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and a gray-to-gray response time of one millisecond. In addition, the monitor supports VESA Adaptive-Sync for variable tear rate refresh rates. Players can choose between different modes for optimized display in different types of games and also activate aids such as a crosshair or shadow control. The OSD is operated via a wireless controller with three shortcut keys that can be assigned.

According to the AOC, the Agon Pro PD32M is of course not just a gaming screen, but also suitable for creative work with its high resolution and contrast screen. It represents 1.07 billion colors and covers 97 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. A low blue mode is also available.

In addition to two HDMI 2.1 inputs and a DisplayPort 1.4, the Agon Pro PD32M also offers a USB-C connection with DisplayPort function and 90 watt power supply. A 4-port USB hub with extra upstream is also integrated. With the KVM switch built into the screen, it is possible to control a gaming PC and a notebook connected via USB-C with keyboard and mouse. The AOC screen can also display two sources simultaneously in a frame-by-frame mode.

Sound and color games

Compared to many other gaming monitors, the Porsche design of the Agon Pro PD32M is quite reserved. However, the 31.5-inch comes with a switchable RGB illumination that can be fully adjusted using the Light FX software included on the USB connector, which can ensure a sumptuous play of colors. A lens is also integrated in the stand that can project logos on its base. Two 8-watt speakers are installed behind the panel, which is powerful for monitors. A headset can be stored on one of the two pull-out holders.
