The iF Design Award is one of the most recognized design awards worldwide. It is awarded by International Forum Design in Germany, which since 1953 has rated the world’s most innovative products. The focus is on the combination of aesthetics and functionality. The jury for this year’s iF Design Awards is composed accordingly. 132 recognized design experts from over 20 countries were invited to evaluate each contribution in terms of idea, form, function, differentiation and effect.
“We are more than proud and feel very honored that the experts in the iF Design Awards jury have given us four awards,” says Armin Kanani, Head of Design at Gigaset. “We have significantly changed and modernized the design language in our new products. The prices therefore have a special significance for us – they prove that we have captured the spirit of the times. At the same time, we received an award for software for the first time: Our Gigaset OS operating system will be used in most of our products in the future – from DECT handsets to smartphone apps. But we also use it for digital services that can be accessed from other end devices. “

As the market leader in wireless landline telephony, Gigaset strives to continue to develop new products tailored to the specific needs of its customers. While the use and spread of landline telephones is steadily declining, the new Comfort series has been developed with the aim of creating a mid-range DECT product family that covers the widest possible range of needs and markets. The timeless look follows Gigaset’s new design philosophy with straight lines, clear surfaces and high ergonomics. The modular system includes several components that can be combined with each other to operate different variants and price levels.
iF Design Award for the innovative UC handset ION
Communication in the work environment has changed dramatically during the corona pandemic. Enterprise adoption of cloud PBX and Unified Communication (UC) solutions continues to accelerate. Gigaset supports users of these solutions with its innovative USB DECT handset ION. It combines the benefits of DECT technology with the capabilities of modern UC clients. With its high-quality speakers, noise-canceling microphones and long-range wireless range, it is the perfect alternative for people who prefer a handset over a headset. ION works either as a cordless phone or a hands-free solution for small conferences and can be used flexibly in the office, home office or on the go.
iF Design Award for the multifunctional desk phone of the future
The excellent new product, which is expected to be launched at the end of the year, is a completely new interpretation of a landline telephone with cord for professional use in small businesses. The Gigaset OS, which also received an iF Design Award, has been developed from scratch for the innovative hybrid operation with touchscreen and keyboard. The elegant unit consists of high quality materials such as polished metal applications, glass surfaces and a disinfection-resistant coating and is primarily designed for use in SOHO and medium-sized companies.

Gigaset OS is a milestone for Gigaset’s user interface products and services. The completely redesigned structure of the phone and web user interface allows users to flexibly adjust the screen content while ensuring a consistent visual branding experience across all digital products. More intuitive, fresher and user-centric features make it easier to interact with contacts, calls and third-party applications. The overall design language that runs through all Gigaset OS products strengthens the emotional bond between the brand and the user and meets personal and professional needs – from home to the office and beyond.
“Winning four iF Design Awards at once is a great success for Gigaset,” says Kai Froese, SVP Strategy, Innovation & Design at Gigaset AG. “After not only completely revising our design language in the form of a large-scale project, but at the same time – also during the growing digitization of our products – created a uniform user interface and software level across all user interfaces., I consider the prices to be “A strong proof that we have succeeded in doing this. We want to create high-quality products and solutions and focus on the customer, so the close connection between haptic and UI-based design was absolutely necessary.”
