How do you recognize the phishing email?
In general, it is advisable that you are familiar with the subject of phishing. That’s why we would like to recommend our phishing guide to you. There you will learn how to recognize spam and phishing messages.
Basically, you should pay attention to spelling and grammar in emails. If there are too many errors, it can be assumed that these are attempted frauds.
It is also important that you check the link target. Use the mouse-over effect for this. You hover over the link without clicking on it and see which site is listed as the target site. If you do not know them, do not click on the link. Then it’s very likely a phishing email.

If you receive messages from a website you have signed up for, be careful with the links. Because scammers can easily recreate the right messages. But you can avoid the problem. Manually call the provider’s website by entering the address in the browser. Then log in to your account and confirm if necessary.
What happens when you click on the link in the phishing email?
By default, we discourage you from clicking on links in emails that have been requested. The risk of falling for a phishing email is too great. If you still click on the link, you will end up with spam emails on so-called phishing sites. There you must then enter the access data for your account. For example, OpenSea is about the backup (Secret Recovery Phrase) for your wallet that you have connected to OpenSea.
But be careful: if you enter the data here, it will be passed on to unknown third parties. This gives them access to your assets.

What should you do if you click on the link?
If you have not entered any data, there is still a risk that you will end up on a website that is infected with malware. In this case, your device and your personal data are at risk.
Biallo tip: protection against malicious emails
We therefore recommend that you equip your computer, smartphone and tablet with a good virus scanner. For example, the Bitdefender Total Security 2022 virus scanner for Windows, Mac OS X or Android not only protects your computer. In total, up to five devices can be protected with this software – including your smartphone or tablet.
In any case, if you have already entered your data, you should respond quickly. First, try logging in to your account and setting a new password. You should also protect your purse in the same way. If this is not possible, contact the respective provider and explain the situation. If you have also entered your bank details or credit card numbers on the fake page, you must also inform your bank. If necessary, the card and / or account must be blocked.
It is important that you go to the police in this case and file a report. After all, scammers are in possession of your data and can use it to commit further crimes. It is helpful to report it so that you will not be prosecuted later. A notification is often also a prerequisite for the credit card company or cyber insurance companies to be able to compensate for damage that has occurred.
